CPI scores huge order for Ka-band satellite communications amplifiers
A prime contractor is ordering more than $5 million worth of high-power Ka-band satellite communications amplifiers from Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI.)
According to CPI, its SATCOM amplifiers will be used in a U.S. military communications program that is intended to provide global communications connectivity to tactically deployed forces.
As per its contract, CPI will provide solid-state power amplifiers (SSPA) with internal block-up converters (BUC,) SuperLinear traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTA,) and other solid-state and vacuum electron device products. Several divisions of the company will work on the program over a period of five years.
According to Joe Caldarelli, chief executive officer of CPI, small, light, reliable, and rugged satellite communications systems are of critical importance in modern day military operations around the world. CPI’s military communications customers have been very pleased with its high-power SSPAs and SuperLinear TWTAs.
